Description:

Across more than 3,000 square meters of exhibition space, the German Spy Museum gives a unique insight into the world of international espionage where once the Berlin Wall split the City.

Viewing rare artefacts and using high-tech exhibition technology, the visitor is introduced to the cunning and often bizarre methods of spies and international intelligence agencies. Immerse yourself in this interactive and multi-media exhibition by travelling back in time to the Biblical scouts, and journeying forward through the Cold War up to the present – all in a location soaked in history.

Cold War Interests:

The Cold War turned out to be a new and exceptional challenge for intelligence agencies. The German Spy Museum not only focuses on the diverging developments in both East and West Germany, but also examines international topics. Additionally, the museum concentrates on Berlin, the frontier of the Cold War and so-called capital of spies. Visitors are able to explore the city on their own with an interactive map: they will find conspiratorial flats that were used by the Ministry for State Security (MfS) as well as Western spying stations and many more. Specialist tours are available for school classes.

A large number of interviews with eye-witnesses and scientists broaden the view on activities of intelligence agencies during the Cold War. For Example Rainer Rupp and Dieter Feuerstein, two East German master-spies and the intelligence analyst Christopher McLarren, who worked at the Field Station Teufelsberg.

Among the exhibits of the Cold War, the visitor will find cameras belonging to the workshops of the "OTS" (Operative-Technical Sector), body-scents archived by the Ministry for State Security and CIA keychain-cameras.

The series of events held at the German Spy Museum consists of presentations, readings and film screenings from experts and eye-witnesses. Recent events had included:

| Book presentations of "Capital City of Espionage" or on the history of the Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND);
| Screening of "Bridge of Spies" including a discussion with a real CIA-Agent exchanged on the Glienicker Brücke;
| Discussion on the "AIDS-Conspiracy" by KGB and Stasi;
| Reading and discussion on "Der Desinformant" by Horst Kopp.

Here you will find all current events of the German Spy Museum.

Events are partly organized in cooperation with the Federal Commissioner for the Records of the State Security Service of the former German Democratic Republic, the Allied Museum Berlin and the Memorial Berlin-Hohenschönhausen.
