Description:

Since 2007 the memorial ROTER OCHSE Halle (Saale) belongs to the Memorials Foundation of Saxony-Anhalt. It has two permanent exhibitions: first, the political justice of the Nazi dictatorship (1933-1945) and secondly, the political justice of the communist dictatorship (1945-1989).

The research priorities include among others the topic of the special courts, military justice, the documentation of the fates of the executed "Roter Ochse" (1942-1945), the activities of Soviet military tribunals (SMT), the role of the Stasi detention prison of the District Administration of Halle and its influence until 1989. Visitor groups come mainly from educational and vocational training institutes, universities and through tourism.

Cold War Interests:

The focus is the political justice in the Soviet occupation zone (SBZ)/GDR. For the period of the Soviet occupation forces in the "Roter Ochse" (1945 to 1952), the development of a traveling exhibition in cooperation with the Memorial Moritzplatz in Magdeburg and the Memorial German Division in Marienborn is planned until 2017, followed by another traveling exhibition for political justice in the GDR (1950 to 1989).
